Unanswered: Application Servers - What to install?

    Hi all,

We're going to migrate our Forms/Reports 6i applications to WebForms.
    We're working with a 9.2.0.5 database.

The question that I have is which App Server should I install, Oracle9iAS or Oracle App Server 10g? What do you recomend?
I won't be migrating the DB, since is on PROD on many countries.

I know about DBs but not much about App Server, so if you know any good start guide (since I searched and couldn't find a good one) I'll appreciate it.

    Thanks & Saludos to all!
    Germán.
    Ora9i DBA.

Go with 10gAS without any doubt.
    9iAS R2 is/was riddled with bugs.
I wonder how hard you searched.

    Thanks, anacedent.

Believe me, I searched. The problem is that I forgot to look there since for some reason those pages don't work with Firefox... must be ActiveX.

    Any other opinion? Anyone else?

    1) I use Firefox extensively & Oracle's site work fine for me.
    2) What's preventing you from using a different flavor of browser?
    3) What preventing you from RTFMs which are delivered with the s/w?

I thank you for your help, just asked for a "good" guide... I've read guides... and still have many doubts, that's why I was asking for a good one.

    1) It's Firefox AND my firewall what it's causing problems.
    2) I did and do.
    3) Since I don't have the s/w I don't have TFM.

I also know what is to deal with people that doesn't want to search and ask others, that's not my case, I asked since I read and I'm still clueless about some things.

    Thanks anyway...

    1) AFAIK, there is no 3rd party documentation/manuals for 10gAS
    2) You can download 10g AS doc. set from
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/doc...server10g.html
and you'll have to make do as best you can with what you find.
