    Unanswered: replication?

i have an oracle instance running . I want the same database datas into another database in different machine. Can anyone suggest what is the easiest way to acheive this? Is it what we call database replication?

    This link explains about replication:

    http://www.orafaq.org/faqrepl.htm

I think you need to read it & then you may be able to answer your own question better - i.e. Are you talking about replication, or do you just want another copy of an existing database?

How you achieve each is completely different, & in order to help you further we need to know what you really want.

Well i came to know that better way to achieve that is creation of snapshots.

What are your needs ??? Sometimes multimaster replication is the answer
if you are going to have people sharing data on separate databases, other
times, snapshots is the answer, especially if you only want a segment of
the data shared (ie, employee table ... only share the employee's in dept 20)
If it's for a "failover" situation, then you might want to look at other options..
