    Question Unanswered: DB2 scheduled backup

    Hello!

I'm planning an scheduled online backup on DB2 UDB 8.2. I'm thinking of having online backup once a day and keep only logs and backup images for past few days. Can anyone post me an DB2 command script which does something like this (with automatic deletion of old images)?

We have DB2 on Windows XP.

I have archived logs stored in a different directory using LOGARCHMETH1 and LOGARCHMETH2 parameter. Backups are also stored on local disks. I would like to create a script to delete all unnecessary files for restore older than 3 days. I know that log files can be deleted with PRUNE HISTORY command.

I have also one question about log size. We have log file size so big that all logs from one are stored in a single log file. What are the recommendations? Is it better to have smaller files, so that logs are archived more frequently?

    Thank’s for your time,
    Ales

    db2 backup

do not forget that with online backup you MUST have the logfiles otherwise after restore, you can not lget out of rollforwarding pending state.
take from time to time an offline backup.

We are planning one or two full offline backups a month.
