    Perhaps you could use DBMS_JOB package ... you said you already have a stored procedure. Write a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger (on a button on your form) with a code similar to this:
    Code:
    DECLARE
       jobno NUMBER;
    BEGIN
       DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT
          (job => jobno,
           what => 'my_procedure;'
          );
       COMMIT;
    END;
    It'll run your procedure as a batch job, and control will be (I hope so!) returned to the form immediately.
