    Unanswered: How to call an oracle function from shell script without using select

    Hi

    I want to call an oracle function that is dynamically creating partitions thru the unix shell script. if i call that function by using select function(..) from dual, i need to use autonomous transaction for the function. but i don't want to use autonomous transaction. so, pls guide me and tell me if any other other alternative way to call that oracle function thru shell script.

    thanks

    Something like:
    Code:
    $sqlplus -s un/pw << !
    DECLARE
      x integer;
    BEGIN
      x := myfunction();
    END;
    /
    EXIT 0
    !
    (though Shells cripts aren't my strong suit).
