    Unanswered: date

    hi ,
    Is there any way to find the short timezone as
    AST,BST,CST,EST etc from SYSTIMESTAMP.

    As far as I know, SYSTIMESTAMP takes no arguments and returns a TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE for the current database date and time.

    But there is one functions in 9i which might help you to acheive your task i.e New_time viz..

    SELECT SYSDATE Memphis ,NEW_TIME(SYSDATE,'CST','EST') Newtime
    FROM dual;


    This function returns the date in time zone 'third argument' for date d in time zone 'second argument'.
