    Unanswered: Record Already Exists

    Hi,

I'm trying to write a code in vba MS Access 2000. What i'm trying to do is when i enter a Member ID, then tab off the text box,If the member ID exists then i want a message box to pop up to say if that member id already exists. If it does not exists then no message box will come. Can someone please help me i have been stuck the whole day.
    Thankyou

In your BeforeUpdate event write a query to poll for the Member ID ...
Back to Access ... ADO is not the way to go for speed ...

    Hi Hemish,

How about creating a MemberID ComboBox that Lists ALL the valid MemberID's and set it to LimitToList. That way the user will know if the MemberID even exists. Search on the site here and there is a way to AddToList any new data you want. That's just a thought anyway.

    Happy Holidays to All!!!!
    have a nice one,
