    Unanswered: reduce/remove containers in DMS

    Hi:
How to change and force high water mark to move so we can drop a container from DMS Tablespace ? we have only 20% used TSpace with multiple containers so need to drop some for other use but high water mark is set to 80% plus level of total space ...

Any help ? ,thanks in advance!!

Happy holiday and merry christmas to all!!!

run a reorg on the tables in the tablespace. It frees up some of the space.

To see what is holding the space,

    db2dart <DBname> /tsi <tablespace id>

The second option is /LHWM. This will make suggestions about ways to lower the high-water mark for a given tablespace. The tablespace ID must be provided along with a desired high-water mark. The /TSI and /NP options can be used to specify these values, otherwise they will be prompted .

    Arrow

    Reorganizing doesn't lower the watermark

The high watermark is set by the
highest page ever used!! - and
    you cannot remove containers without
    lowering it.

If you have free space, you can move
tables to another TS, drop it, create it again,
and move them back - otherwise ud DART

    - but please be careful !!
