Unanswered: Urgent: core folders are created in cdump folder

    Hi,

When we run a db script,in the folder cdump we are able to see many new folders with names core_10701,core_10678 etc etc around 101 folders are created and it occupies a huge space. We can remove this files, but again same thing happens when we run the scripts.

any idea why this core folders are created?

    any DBA's pl. answer.

Core files are only created when one of the oracle processed aborts. If they are being created whenever your script is run, you have a major problem with the script. Use top to look at the first few lines of the core file, it should tell you what process failed and why.

The script which we are running is just adding 2 columns to a table and updates around 1 lakh records.I dont understand why it generates core files for that.

We are using HP-UNIX as OS,is there any problem with oracle 9.2.0.4 on this machine??
