    Unanswered: auto number

I have talbe that Field "ID" is a auto number and primary key. I am testing the database. Now I finished the testing. And deleting all the records in the table. But when i create a new record. The ID didn't start from 1, but from 9 because i create 8 records before for the test. How can l let ID start from 1 again. I know if i copy a structure only table. it will works. But later, if i delete it, how to let ID start from the ID that just has been deleted. Thanks.

It used to be that if you deleted the records and then ran a 'Compact and Repair Database', that the Autonumber field would reset back to the next number after the highest value from your remaining records. Try that.

If that doesn't work, check out this Microsoft Knowledge Base article for other solutions.
