I've noticed that if I use an ADO connection to increase the size of a field
from 40 to 50 characters with DDL SQL, the MDB jumps from 6MB to 12MB, EVEN AFTER COMPACTING twice.

My code is...
cnn.Execute "ALTER TABLE table1 ALTER COLUMN txt CHAR(50)"

If I do exactly the same thing using the Access Table Designer the filesize does not change AT ALL!

Is something wrong? I can't find reference to this issue at all.

Thanks for the help.
