Arrow Unanswered: Transfer data from FM to MS Word

    Hey Folks!
I try to transfer data from FileMaker Pro 7 (under WinXP) to MS Word by using the dde execute function.
But i really have no idea how to get it... It's hard for me, because i am a fm beginner (normaly i am programming php, mysql, perl etc). Does anybody have a idea/glue/solution for me? It's a little bit urgent
I searched about my problem in different boards and in google... but i didn't find something what i could use...

    i hope for help!
    best regards,
    Andreas

    try using XML

I've pointed people to the XML capability before and that seemed to work well for them. Basically if you turn on web publishing you can query the database using the XML commands. As an alternative you can use ODBC and SQL style queries.

    Hm... ok...
You think i should export the wished data from fm to a xml file.
And then i should import the xml-data to my word file? Right?

Is it possible to use a macro in Word?

(sorry for this stupid questions, but normaly i am using Linux )

    best regards,
    Andreas

Howdy! I do not have FM7, but unless I am misunderstanding, getting data from FileMaker to Word is just a simple export. You can choose any format you want, but a basic text dump is cleanest (or MERGE format if you want columns). The resulting file can be opened in Word, Excel, or any text-reading application.

    FILE > EXPORT

    Hope this helps!

    Hey all!
    This problem is solved!
I export the data to a dbf-File! Than i import the data to word (by using the mail -merge function).

    Thanks anyway!
