Unanswered: Oracle error code look up?

    Hello everyone:

I got error message from SQL*Plus,
the error code is: ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01403: no data found
    ORA-06512: at line 9

Could someone tell me the link on Oracle website that will explain the error code. So I can look it up. Thanks in advance!

    you can use
    Code:
    $oerr ora 01403
to get a more detailed info.

Roland, how can I use "oerr"? Does "$" represent operating system or SQL prompt? Which OS? Which Oracle version? In which folder is it? Just asking because I don't have it on my system (Windows XP, Oracle DB 8.1.7, Developers 9i and 10g) ...

it's a long time ago, i used it last, and at the moment, i can't check.
    $ is the OS Prompt
The OS i used was Solaris
Oracle Version >= 9 (not shure)
Folder??? It was like sqlplus included in my path, i'm a user, not a dba.

It seemed to me that someone wrote this script (oerr) on your system and it works only there, not everywhere. I guess sjgrad03 won't find it useful unless you provide something more about it.

P.S. Sorry, now I saw your EDIT chapter; didn't read carefully enough ... at first it looked like your signature So, what is OERR:
The oerr utility (Oracle Error) is provided only with Oracle databases on UNIX platforms. oerr is not an executable, but instead, a shell script that retrieves messages from installed message files. The utility is not provided on Windows systems, since it uses awk commands to retrieve the requested text from the file (...)
Fine. Now I've learned something new (not very useful for me, though, as nor Win or VMS platforms are supported). Thank you!
