Unanswered: Installing on Win 2K Pro
PostgreSQL on Win 2K
I have downloaded and unzipped the version 8 .msi files.
one is around 58K, the other 17M.
Running the smaller one starts the install wizard, presenting
a pick your language dialog. Ok so far.
Then the disaster happens
Clicking on the start button causes the process to abort within 1 second
with an error/truth dialog stating "wrapper failed to get SourceDir property!".
Does anybody have any ideas on this?
Thanks in advance.
"Fix the problem, not the blame!"
the installation processs of the msi file worked without any problems for me on Win 2K Pro SP4
the file i used was http://pgfoundry.org/frs/?group_id=1...release_id=132
as helpful as your reply is
I have 4 different 'downloaded' versions of PostgreSQL v8.0
(3 rc5 sets and 1 official)
All give the same result.
I think there maybe some sort of permission denial occurring in W2K,
but as yet I have not found it.
MaxDB, MySQL, Firebird and Oracle all installed and ran without a problem,
Ingres and PostgreSQL had problems crashing after the first install
dialog - hence I would say to me they are useless.
The proof of the software's worth is when it works.
heh , i just wanted to point out that the 8.0 stable msi release works for me
that means that it might work for others , and it might only not work for you
see it is realy dependant on the host operating system and in the end that is what does not work for you , and like you say is its worth
