    Unanswered: Catastrophic failure using ADO

    Hello everybody

I`ve been using MySQL version 4.0.18 for some time. My appllication accesses the RDBMS using ADO under Visual Basic 6. Today, I decided to try a newer version. I downloaded the latest version of MySQL and the latest 3.51 ODBC drivers.
Now, whenever my app tries to open an ODBC connection to the database I get a 'Catastrophic failure' error. Is there something I`m missing here?

    thx, in advance

    Hi George,
I just read on the MySQL-Site (www.mysql.com) that many users have the same problem as you. It seems that the latest ODBC driver 3.51.10 has bugs and causes this error. It's recommended to downgrade to an earlier driver. In case you use Windows: because there is no installable Windows-driver available you have to build it from a source, look at this link http://www.sourcekeg.co.uk/www.mysql...odbc/3.51.html . Or try a 2.50 driver from http://downloads.mysql.com/archives....bc-2.50&o=-win .
    I hope it helps you.

Just chiming in to say I got beat up by 3.51.10 as well. Falling back to the prior driver solved the problem.
