    Unanswered: very basic AUDIT question

    Hi,

    When logging on as SYS, and running the following, why would AUD$ be empty? Am I not looking in the right place?

    Code:
    audit SELECT on scott.emp;

    SELECT * from scott.emp;

    SELECT * from aud$;
    thanks

    Is audit_trail=db in your init<sid>.ora file?

    hmmm, okay i added that, but the setting is not taking affect when I restart the instance.

    i ran a file-mon too and that file is not be accessed when i do a restart, in fact, no init*.ora file is being accessed on restart.

    My sid is: stachon

    I noticed: SPFILESSTACHON.ora is being accessed, but i make any changes to that file, I get a shared memory realm error.

    argh.

    so my question, where do I make the instance property change? 9i on Win?
