    Unanswered: faster ways to update reporting tables

    Does Oracle put a timestamp on every record added to it? If so, ho is it accessed via SQL?

    Oracle does not put a timestamp on every row that is added -- but you could add a timestamp column and set/update it from a trigger. On Oracle 10g there is a new feature called flashback query.
