    Unanswered: SQL Backup

I have a question, when i schedule an automatic backup on ms sql 7.0 and during the backup process an application is running (connects to the database currently in backup process). does this affects or disrrupts the backup? thanks

No, a SQL Server backup (a dump) contains all of the information needed to restore the database to the exact state it was in when the dump finished, regardless of how many users were connected or what actions they performed while the dump was happening.

sql backup, backs up the data directly from the mdf bypassing the user process. interestingly you wont lose any transactions that you were performing durning the backup because sql server writes an LSN to the log file to indicate where the backup started. when the backup completes, Sql writes another LSN to the log and backs up the log information between the log marks.
