    how do i find the current record in dao?

    Try to expand on this -- show some of the code

    I mean if you are returning a record set then on open you are on the first record moving to the next record etc. until you reach the end of the recordset...

    Which one are you on -- the one you are on is the current one

    i'm not sure if it is what you are looking for but [AbsolutePosition] is the property for the current record in a recordset. You can find this by calling
    msgbox rst.AbsolutePosition

    if you are in a form and need to find the actual position call
    msgbox me.CurrentRecord

    if you are in a form and want to find which position you are in in the forms dynaset then you can call
    msgbox me.RecordSetClone.AbsolutePosition

    if you post some of the code in question i will try to help more specifically
