    Post Unanswered: School Inventory Database

I am a new Access User. Used Filemaker for years but my new job does not have the program nor are they willing to purchase I use Access. Love it, however, am trying to create a School Inventory DB. I only need to track equipment identity, location, purchase price, date etc. In Filemaker, I was able to design it so that I could imput easily with a barcode reader and verify inventory using the barcode as well. (I barcoded all of the room locations as well as the equipment as needed.)

Does anyone know of a place where I might procure a template to do this? I hate to reinvent the wheel.

I use barcode with Access and it works fine, it's very easy.

First you got to have the barcode fonts for your code, example: CODE39 or CODABAR or EAN etc... Or you got to have an OCX control to manage the fonts.

And second, you don't need anything else!

When you scan a barcode, the entry of the scan is equal of a keyboard entry, all you have to do is to place the progamming code in the AfterUpdate events of your form controls.
