    Unanswered: Remote client connection Issue

    Hi
    I am using db2 8.1 on solaris.

Getting following error while trying to connect to database from client.

SQL30081N A communication error has been detected. Communication protocol
being used: "TCP/IP". Communication API being used: "SOCKETS". Location
where the error was detected: "113.128.142.120". Communication function
detecting the error: "connect". Protocol specific error code(s): "10061", "*",
    "*". SQLSTATE=08001

    Here is what i Did

Created an new instance and a database on the server.

    1. when we create instance will it not update the services file with the port number specified ?
Do we have to make an entry for connection service port and interrupt port manually in the file ?

    These entries were there
    DB2_db2inst1 60000/tcp
    DB2_db2inst1_1 60001/tcp
    DB2_db2inst1_2 60002/tcp
    DB2_db2inst1_END 60003/tcp

    but not db2c_db2inst1 and db2i_db2inst1

i have manually entered the service port and interrupt port number manually and updated dbm cfg file with cammond
update dbm cfg with svcename "newservicename"

Then on client machine updated the services file with the same port number and service name.

? do we need to have service name also same on both server and client machines or just the port number.?

I have cataloged the node and the databse at client and when i tried to connect go the error.

Let me know where and doing mistake.

    Thx
    Mohd
