I have an Oracle 9.2 instance on solaris, running on a box which cannot be accessed directly from my workstation.
I would like to run the SQL Plus gui or TOAD from here, but am not 100% how to get it working.
Till now I've had to SSH to the CMS server, and from there SSH onto the Oracle server and use the CLI. I've installed the client tools on my work station, and set up an SSH tunnel using PuTTY so that opening an SSH session to the CMS box, is trying to tunnel to the Oracle box.
On opening SQL PLus, and entering localhost connection strings, I get a "Error: ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact"
I've set up the tnsnames.ora entry for this as if it's connecting to localhost.
Can I see your contents of the listener.ora on the server and the tnsnames.ora for the client? If they're on the same machine, both from that machine will do. If you have no listener.ora, just say so. sqlnet.ora would be good too if you have it.
Both taken from the server.
I have to ssh into TC0 then from there ssh onto or0, or0 being the Oracle server. I'd like to be able to connect to or0 using sqlplus or toad from my workstation, which can only access tc0 directly.
