Unanswered: how to pass "Carriage Return" to ontape commnad

    Hi frineds,
Thanks a lot for your kind help . I have set up a test environment
by getting help from db forums.
One more issue, i have now.
I have return a shell script, that would take take backup of database in file,
and then we would move that to tape.
    but here the problem is:
    output of the backup.

Please mount tape 1 on /infobkp/yennora/fullbkp and press Return to continue ...

    10 percent done.
    20 percent done.
    30 percent done.
    40 percent done.
    50 percent done.
    60 percent done.
    100 percent done.

the first line " Please mount tape 1.....' , where i have to press " carriage return" key ,only then backup process starts, until that it stuck there.
please anyone can help to resolve this issue to automate this backup process.

    Your help is highly appreciated.

    thanks and ragards

    Hi Sundar,

    This will work

    echo '\n0' | /export/home/informix/bin/ontape -s -L 0 | head -100 > /export/home /informix/test/backup.log

set up the variables INFORMIXDIR, INFORMIXSERVER, PATH, ONCONFIG

    $INFOIRMIXDIR/bin/ontape -s -L 0 <<EOF
--blank line----- represents the carrige return
    EOF

    Cheers
