    What is Operating System name & version?
    What is Oracle version to 4 decimal places?

    Maybe you are looking for the CHR function? It takes the ASCII code as an argument:
    Code:
    insert into mytable (col) values (chr(9));
    The inverse of that is the ASCII function:
    Code:
    select ascii('A') from dual;
