    Unanswered: tab delimited text file vs Text file

    Anybody know whether the tab delimited text file is same as the Text file? Thanks

    A Tab deliminited text file is a specific kind of text file. (The records are delimited with a tab character.) There are many formats that you will see data in text files including fixed width files (in which each field has a predefined number of characters on each line) and various other delimited files, including CSV (comma delimited) files. With a HEX editor or a text editor which allows you to see hidden characters you can identify which kind of file you are looking at. The import wizard in Access will let you preview the data you are about to import, as well, which should let you know what you are looking at..
