    Unanswered: Visual Studio .NET 2005

I'm having trouble connecting to our Pervasive database (V8.6) in Visual Studio .NET 2005 Beta 2. I want to get some info from the database into a drop down menu.

These are the steps i'm taking.

    1) Selecting the box for the drop down menu (ComboBox), in the properties select DataSource then Add Project Data Source. (Do it this way so it makes the data set as well)

    2) Select Database - New Connection - Using ODBC select our Database (CHAHO) - Test Connection (OK)

    3) Click next and leave the name as connectionstring1 - Select the required table and leave the name as dataset1.

    4) Then i get the following error:-
Some Updating commands could not be generated automatically. The error message was:
ERROR [HYC00][Pervasive][ODBC Client Interface][LNA][Pervasive][ODBC Engine Interface]Driver not capable.

Any ideas on a fix or updates i might need for pervasive?

I just tried using DEMODATA and one of my database tables and it worked fine. I am using PSQL V8.7 (rather than 8.6). Does it fail regardless of the database/datasource/table you pick?
If not, do the table(s) that cause the error pass a database consistency check?

Yeah looks like it's all the databases. I've just tried the demodata and it does the same.

I've also tried connecting to an MySQL database and that fails as well.

Are you using a ODBC connection or BTreive? or something diffrent. I'm new to VB.

If it's failing with MySQL, it may be something wrong with your VS.NET install. I'm actually not using Beta 2. I'm using the CTP from August (I think). The version I have is v8.0.50727.7 (RTM.050727-700). What version are you using?
I'm using an ODBC connection. The VB.NET is not very friendly to calling unmanaged code (like the Btrieve API).

    I'm using V8.0.50215.44 (beta2.050215-4400)

It was working fine in beta1 but now gone all wrong. Would go back to beta1 but when i installed it on a different machine to look at the code it says this beta version has expired or something like that.

I would try the later CTP or the RC from the MSDN site.

I'm not a MSDN person. I ordered Beta2 off the website.

Sounds like you're going to have to wait until they ship VS.NET 2005. I know that with the AUgust CTP, it works. It doesn't seem to be a Pervasive problem (because you said it happens with a MySQL database too).
