Unanswered: Sybase ASE 12.5 fail to Open BCP utility

    Hi,

I Installed Sybase ASE 12.5 client in a Windows XP system. My ODBC Connection, DSedit Server Ping and Sybase Central works ok with the Sybase database server. But I am unable open "BCP" utility from Command prompt.
It keep on giving me Error Message Box saying,

"The procedure entry point srv_recvclient could not be located in the dynamic link library libsrv.dll"

Is any one knows about this error? Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hello !

    Hello,

Did you check your environment variable ?
    ($SYBASE, $SYBASE/OCS etc...)

    Yes. %SYBASE% is C:\Sybase and %SYBASE_OCS% is OCS-12_5.

Did you install recently install an Open Server EBF, or a SDK ?
Can you give us the bcp version ? (bcp -v)

If everything is ok, the dll might be corrupt.

It could be possible to change bcp.exe by another one from another install if you have another one and see what's happen.
    Regards.

there was a step in the install process that covered updating /etc/ld.so.conf. had to include some libs in the file. for 12.5, they looked something like this:

    /opt/sybasedir/OCS-12.5/lib
    /opt/sybasedir/ODBC-12.5/lib
    /opt/sybasedir/ASE-12.5/lib

and run /sbin/ldconfig. this is the only install step i've seen related to libs.

now, if i could just get my install to complete....

1a) Can't invoke "bcp -v" as it gives the said error. "The procedure entry point srv_recvclient could not be located in the dynamic link library libsrv.dll". But it is from the CD title Saying
    Sybase
    Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5
    Developer's Edition
    Windows NT PC Client.
Part No of CD is " 61619-55-1250-01"
1b) Other DBA's system PC Client gives same error when invokes BCP. So copying bcp.exe, I think, won't help from that machine.

    2) It is not a Unix install, so /etc/ldconfig does not applies in this installation.

You might probably have to re-install your client on your windows PC. Sounds bad, I know, but I can't see a workaround.
