How do you know your string is truncated at 255 characters?

Have you checked your QA -> Tools -> Options -> Results tab to ensure that you can display more than 255 characters per column?

Are you using Query Analyzer? Go to Tools/Options in the menu and select the Results tab. Bump up the Maximum characters per column value to where you need it.
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

I thought that's what I said. Maybe I'm mistaken. After all ... it is Monday!
