Unanswered: twice the same index on the same table

    Hello,

I've seen something that looks strange to me in an ASE database.
A table has twice the same index but with different name on a table...

    CREATE INDEX TOTO1
    ON dbo.tablename(order_code)
    go
    CREATE INDEX TOTO2
    ON dbo.tablename(order_code)
    go

It could be definitly a creation error at some point during the database life. But I'm not so sure... and the historic of the dataserver and the application is unknown to me.

Except because of an error, is there any valuable reasons to create twice the same index (with a different name) on the same table ?
    (performances reasons,locks, execution plan...)
    Regards.

None whatsoever. I would drop it, unless your code is fond of index hints.
