    Unanswered: Exp error

    All,

    From Unix env. i am trying to execute the following exp statement, but getting an error message :

    $exp scott/tiger tables=emp query="where job='SALESMAN'" file=newdump1.dmp log=newdump1.log


    LRM-00101: unknown parameter name 'job'

    EXP-00019: failed to process parameters, type 'EXP HELP=Y' for help
    EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully

    $

    Need your help.

    What Oracle version do you use? EXP utilities prior to 8i do not support QUERY.

    Correct syntax would be this:

    exp scott/tiger tables=emp query=\"where job='SALESMAN'\" file=newdump.dmp

    Another option would be use of triple double quotes, i.e.

    ... query="""WHERE JOB='salesman' """ ...
