Angry Unanswered: DB2 V8.2 (FP8a) on Solaris 8: Shared memory segments cannot be allocated.

    Hi all,

    DB2 V8.2 Fixpak 8a on Solaris 8
    64 bit instance

I recently installed 8.2 Connect Unlimited Edition and applied fixpak 8a. I created a 64 bit instance and two test databases on it. The problem is when i open the control center, it does not allow me to make concurrent connections to both databases. It says :

[IBM][CLI Driver] SQL1084C Shared memory segments cannot be
    allocated. SQLSTATE=57019

    What i tried:
Increased DBHEAP 4 times than default
Reset the Kernel parameter values in the System file using recommended values from db2osconf

I still get this error. Any pointers?

    Thanks in Advance,
    Newbie

first of all: how to create a database with only DB2 Connect installed?

you try to connect to a remote db or you installed something else?

does the same occur when connecting from a shell?
like having two sessions, one saying
    '> db2 connect to dbname1',
    the other
    '> db2 connect to dbname2'

    ??

Not sure what you meant by
"how to create a database with only DB2 connect installed?"

DB2 Connect is one of the available editions. I am guessing that you got confused with the word Connect...

The Error occurs on the DB2 server as well as when i try to access it remotely through control center (admin client).

    '> db2 connect to dbname1'

Connects Successfully. But when i try...

    '> db2 connect to dbname2'

SQL1084C Shared memory segments cannot be allocated. SQLSTATE=57019

    '>connect reset'

No database connection found to reset connection!

    Any pointers?

    Thanks,
