I cannot easily test the DB2 load utility here at my shop, so hopefully someone can clarify its behavior regarding DATE and TIMESTAMP type columns. We run DB2 version 7 for Z/OS.

Let us assume that we have a target table that looks like:

Furthermore, let us assume that the input data and corresponding loader control statements that are being fed into the load utility process only contain data and instructions regarding the EMPNO and EMPNAME columns.
No reference is made to the UPDATE_TS values whatsoever.
Given these assumptions, my questions are:
under what scenarios, if any, will the the loaded rows all bear the exact same value for UPDATE_TS (i.e. the same CURRENT TIMESTAMP value), and under what scenarios, if any, will they bear different values (incrementing CURRRENT TIMESTAMP values) ?

thanks to anyone who know the answer.
