    Unanswered: User defined data types in Oracle 10g

    Hi,

    i am trying to migrate from Sybase ASA 8 to Oracle 10g.
    In the Sybase DB there are user definded data types e.g.
    MY_NAME varchar(16).
    These user defined data types are also used in stored procedures.
    Is it possible to create in Oracle user definded data types ??

    Thanks a lot !

    stored procedures:

    Code:
    create or replace procedure Name(...) as
     MY_NAME varchar2(16);
    BEGIN
    .
    .
    .
    END;
