    Unanswered: Open Source Code in Script and Compile

    Hi,

    i want to write a script, which makes some changes at a database automatically. therefore i need to open a file containing the source code of a package. now i want to compile the file, so the new source code is available.

    i have no idea, how this can be done. shall the file be open with the utl_file-package?

    thanks for helping!

    there are few ways how to compile it, especially if you use some tools such as TOAD or PL/SQL Developer

    but simple way (Windows OS) is from command line:

    Code:
    sqlplus user_name/user_password@database @file_name

    thanks for answer!

    i know, how to compile a package in normal way or by using the plsql developer. but i think about something else. the script should be an plsql-script which i can run and the packages will be compiled. something like that:

    begin
    open_file(<package_name.bdy>)
    alter package <package_name.bdy> compile;
    close_file();
    end;

    the reason is the following: we have to make updates on a live database. so we write a script which makes the changes. we need some changes in packages for the live-system, but not everywhere. so we will only change the livesystem with this script.

    if noone else has an idea, i must use the way over sqlplus...
