We are finding that making structual changes to out merge replicated database is taking a long time. And it just struck me I may be doing it wrong could someone have a quick look over this and tell me if I'm doing it the best way.

This is what I do:

1: Make sure that no one is making changes to the 2nd database.
2: Wait for the data to be flushed across.
3: Turn off replication.
4: Delete replication
5: Make structual changes to the 1st database.
6: Configure a new replication.
7: Use snapshot replication to push structual changes from the 1st database over the 2nd.
8: Continue with merge rpeplication every 30 minute.

Thanks Ed
