Angry Unanswered: ORA-12560 with Oracle 10g Release 2 on Solaris

    Hi all,

    I'm just installed Oracle 10g release2 on a Solaris 64 bits.
I installed the software and when I will create the database I receive the error :

    ORA-12560: TNS: Protocol adapter error.

The error appears when I use the DBCA or when I'm connected with sqlplus /nolog - connect sys/password@<dbname> as sysdba.

    I have configured the tnsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora and the listener.ora.
If I try the tnsping command, I get an good answer, no errors at this time.

    Thank you for you help.

90% of users' problems can be resolved by punching them - the other 10% by switching off their PCs.

    Hi,

I have already experimented all of that and nothing works!

I'm on Sun Solaris (Unix machine) and not on PC.
The database is still not created. This is the first DB we create on this server.

If you are logged onto the database server system itself, there is no need to use SQL*Net to access the database.
    Just remove the "@<dbname>"

    Hi,

I have also tried without @dbname and I still receive the same error !
All of the configuration parameters are correctly configured (ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID etc...).

    I continue the investigation.

    Regards,

    Xavier
