Unanswered: Format Editor
i have a field in a report that's returing as a number, i want that number to represent a word.
i.e. : 4 == BLUE , 3 == RED
something like that.
i've looked in the Format editor wizard and tried to use Custom Style and its just not working
any help is appreciated
Using the Format Editor, on the Font tab, click the button for color then place ur code.
if (field) =4 then blue
hope it'll work.
i tried using the fomat Editor,Under Customize. im not sure which of those edit buttons to select.
i picked the very first one on the left/top.
it did allow a "If (field) = 4 Then (field) = Blue"
but it doesnt seem to be applying it anywhere.
do you know which button, i should select?
Im sorry but I can't find the 'Customize'..
Well, right click the field the you want to format, choose format field.
Then another screen will appear and then apply what i have said before
i found it. there are four tabs at the top of that screen, the one i needed was the "common" tab.
i saw down at the bottom of the next screen a Section "Display String"
clicked on that
and entered :
if (field) = 4 then "Blue"
else if (field) = 3 then "Red"
else if (field) = 1 then "Yellow"
which is exactl what the ref cursor returns and the exact display i needed.
thank you so much for the help on this.
