    Unanswered: Timestamp. Pls suggest

    Hi All,
    Greetings

    Oracle 7
    OS: sunsolaris

The time stamp on the machine is 20 minutes faster.
If the the time is changed to correct time, will it affect the timestamp
in oracle database, or functioning of oracle database.

    Thanks in Advance
    Adil

Oracle gets it's sysdate from the server so YES it will affect the database.
Shutdown the db, change the server time, restart the db.

You should also implement a continuous sync with your time server so this no longer happens.
