    Unanswered: redo log file got deleted

    Hello,

    One of my friend deleted redo log and control files of one machine in cluster environment. Oracle parallel server(8.1.7) is installed on this cluster.

    Redo log and control files of the second disk is still there.

    Can i copy the control files and redo log files of the second disk to the first one...??? Will it work ???

    Please let me know how should I go by it...??

    Thanking in anticipation.

    Regards,
    Rajeev

    You can copy the controlfile to the original location (as specified in the
    init.ora parameter file).

    The redos you will have to recreate.

    If the redo log was part of a group,
    ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE MEMBER 'yourdirectory/log2b.rdo' TO GROUP 2;

    If the logfile was not part of a group
    ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE ('your_directory/logxxx.rdo') SIZE 500K;

    Once complete, I would for log switches thru the entire cycle of redos

    alter system switch logfile;
