    Talking Unanswered: Col order in select

    Hi all

    is the order of columns names in the select statement (specialy join between tables) make differant in the performance?
    if yes, what is the rules?

    No, the order of columns in a select statement (select col1, col2, ... or select col2, col1, ...) has absolutely no impact on performance.

    Moreover, AFAIK, the order of joins used to be important with the old Rule based optimizer (RBO, deprecated in 10g), but it has no more impact with the Cost based optimizer (CBO).
