    Question Unanswered: How to insert superscript in oracle 8.1.7?

    Hello

    I have a table in oracle 8.1.7 in which I have to insert values as given below :

    insert into TEST values('abc', 14, '', 25); but can't insert '1' (superscript) in oracle 8.1.7 but I heard it can be done in oracle 9i and oracle 8.1.6 but not in oracle 8.1.7 and I am using oracle 8.1.7. version so how to insert superscript in oracle 8.1.7?

    Looking Forward for an early reply

    Thanks

    Hi,

    I don't think it's an 8.1.7 problem, more a character set problem between client and server. Following on 8.1.7

    Code:
    insert into testchar (test) values (chr(251));

    select * from testchar;

    TEST
    ====

    insert into testchar (test) values (''); -- '1' obtained through ALT-251 on numpad

    select * from testchar;

    TEST
    ====

    Please don't email me directly with questions. I've probably just got home from the pub and cannot guarantee the sanity of my answers. In fact, I can't believe I actually made it home.

    Thumbs up

    Hello Billm

    I tried ALT-251 but somehow it didn't work.

    but : insert into TEST values('abc', 14, ' ' ||chr(185), 25); worked.

    Anyway, Thanks
