    Unanswered: TOAD Export Problem

    TOAD Export Problem

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm exporting from TOAD to excel using the tab delimiter - it does export, however, I'm finding that data from one row is carried down to the next, which means my format is getting mangled. Any suggestions on how to get all text to appear on the same row?

    Example:

    RAD XRAY ORTHO
    RAD XRAY
ORTHO (ortho should be on the line above next to xray as in the first line)

Which TOAD version do you use?
Why are you trying to export data as "Tab Delimited" if you are going to open it using MS Excel?

General guideline (as of TOAD 7.6) would be this:
    - in Schema Browser choose table you'd like to export (or in SQL Editor's output data screen), right click on the grid and choose "Save As" option
    - a window named "Save Grid Contents" should open
    - choose format "XLS File" (NOT Tab Delimited!)
    - specify output file name
    - click OK

What happens if you follow these steps?

Thanks for the reply, however, I am familiar with exporting to an excel file. I just happen to prefer saving as tab delimited so that I can copy and paste into a file. I do it all the time w/o error usually. Just not sure why this is happening now.

    Thanks.
