    Unanswered: dump database error.

    What is the error with this dump command.

    1> dump database master to "\sybase\bkps\master_dump_01"
    2> go
    WARNING: In order to LOAD the master database, the SQL Server must run in
    single-user mode. If the master database dump uses multiple volumes, you must
    execute sp_volchanged on another SQL Server at LOAD time in order to signal
    volume changes.
    Msg 7205, Level 17, State 2:
    Server 'DOLITTLE', Line 1:
    Can't open a connection to site 'SYB_BACKUP'. See the error log file in the SQL

    Server boot directory.
    Msg 7205, Level 18, State 3:
    Server 'DOLITTLE', Line 1:
    Can't open a connection to site 'SYB_BACKUP'. See the error log file in the SQL

    So - what errors did you see in the db server's error log?

    Aside from that it looks like the backup server isn't running - I would start by checking that the backup server is up and running...

    Also check if you see a SYBA_BACKUP entry in your master..sysservers with servnetname that matches to that of the interfaces file entry of the backup server.

    exec SYB_BACKUP...sp_ps
    go

    This would determine if ASE can communicate to the Backup server.
