Unanswered: Text Only In A Field

I want a field, First Name, to be text only and display the message 'Must be text only' if someone enters a number.

However, it seems simple but I can't figure it out.

    Help appreciated.

You could use the textbox's before update event to iterate through the string and evaluate the contents of each character...
oh yeah... documentation... I have heard of that.

Ok, now I probably sound really thick, but how do I do that?

EDIT : referring to the first post.

Is there a validation rule for text only?

you could consider putting some code in your contorls on change event, test the character string to see if it contains a non text character

It may be worthwhile looking at the help system to see if you can construct a validation rule to limit to letters only, you may even be able to find something about format masks as well, whilst you are there - y'never know till you try.
