    Unanswered: Hiding Duplicate records

I am working on a complex report that uses an Oracle DB. There are many tables but the two I am concerned with both have an account number as a related field. The issue is that the second table keeps track of events that follow a timeline, but some are repeated. See below

    Acct stage date
    2300 start 12/1/2005
    2300 middle 12/4/2005
    2300 end 12/5/2005

    2301 start 12/1/2005
    2301 middle 12/4/2005
    2301 start 12/5/2005

What I need is the date that accounts that are in a stage (this example "start"). For 2301 the account went back to start on 12/5/05 and therefore duplicates all records. I thought of pulling distinct records but I had no luck. What I want to pull if there are multiple occurrences like above with 2301 is only the first occurrence. I have a formula that is
"if (stage) = "start" then (date)", but when this formula is used I get multiple records. How can I change the formula above to only show the first occurrence?

Is creating a group for Acct doesn't do for your desired output?
