Unanswered: Changing FontWeight for a single character

Lets say I have a text box with a control source of ="This is a test". How can I make the first letter of the string Bold?

Access doesn't support changing such things natively. either its all bold or none.

there is a workarounbd for what you want but its nasty (involving a very samll text box, right justified containing just the first letter - its a heck of a lot of wok for very little reqard IMHV). In these sort of situations I'd want to go back to the user and find out how serious the requirement is.

Not in a normal Access textbox. You can using a RichTextbox ... Or other custom text controls for 3rd parties ...
Back to Access ... ADO is not the way to go for speed ...

I'm using Access 2002. I take it this doesn't support RichText Boxes?

Try looking for it ... Probably in the "Additional controls" section of the toolbox.

I tried that, and it's not there. It isn't in the Help either, so I assumed it wasn't in this version.

Well under Access 2000 it is called the "Microsoft Rich Textbox Control 6.0" ... I can't imagine them taking it away under 2002 ...

OK, found it under "Microsoft Rich Textbox Control 6.0". How do I get my text into this, and alter FontWeight for individual characters?
