Unanswered: Suppress Report to elimate duplicated fields

    Hi

How can I suppress a report that has several occurances of the a particular field e.g.

Currently the report is outputting the following

    Ref----------JobNo----------Agent----------Shipper

    001----------wr777----------FREE----------ABC Worldwide
    002----------wr778----------FREE----------ABC Worldwide
    003----------wr779----------FREE----------ABC Worldwide
    004----------wr780----------FREE----------FRIEGHT 'R' US

I would like the report to read

    Agent----------Shipper----------Total jobs
    FREE----------ABC Worldwide----------3
    FREE----------FRIEGHT 'R' US----------1

In essence move your reporting into a group footer.

To add the number of rows for each shipper place a grouping on shipper code, and require a footer, insert a control which counts() the number of rows, usuaually the primary key which is something like shippercode

what I've seen done in the past is to add a means of turning on or off the detail using a parameter (pulled in either from another form or as part of the call to opent he report.

There is no rule on earth that you must report on a complete table. In the RecordSource property, create a totals query that only displays what you need. In other words, make the RecordSource property a SQL statement along the lines of:
    Code:
SELECT Agent, Shipper, Count(Shipper) As [Total jobs] FROM YourTableName GROUP BY Agent, Shipper
You can keep the reporting in the Detail section if you do this, and you can go on to total in the Footer section.
