Unanswered: Error while trying to finish installation

    Hello,
I`m trying to installl Adaptive Server 12.5 on RedHat 4.0 AS and I get almost through all installation steps but at the end after configuration when it supposed to start the db I get this error msgs
    Code:
    RUN_DEV2 file complete.
    Starting server...
    Task failed
    Unable to boot server 'DEV2'.
    Server 'DEV2' was not created.
and then in the log I get this
    Code:
    00:00000:00000:2005/12/20 08:30:19.78 kernel os_create_region: can't allocate 52107264 bytes
00:00000:00000:2005/12/20 08:30:19.78 kernel kbcreate: couldn't create kernel region.
00:00000:00000:2005/12/20 08:30:19.78 kernel kistartup: could not create shared memory
    00:00000:00000:2005/12/20 08:30:19.90 kernel Checked out license ASE_DEV
00:00000:00000:2005/12/20 08:30:19.90 kernel Adaptive Server Enterprise Developer Edition.
00:00000:00000:2005/12/20 08:30:19.90 kernel The configuration area in device '/opt/sybase/data/master.dat' appears to be corrupt. The server needs this data to boot, and so cannot continue. The server will shut down.
Anybody knows what is the issue here and how to resolve it?
    Please help

YOu need to expand the kernel.shmmax variable (for example via the sysctl command).

See the FAQ at http://www.peppler.org/FAQ/linux.html for some additional information.

Now I have another error. When I try to connect with isql -U sa or any user
    I get this error
    Code:
    CT-LIBRARY error:
ct_connect(): directory service layer: internal directory control layer error: Requested server name not found.
Could you guide me how to fix that ? This all happend after I restarted the server. I could connect before restart and then this happes now.

That simply means that the server name can't be found in the interfaces file.
What is the name of your database server? Did you pass that name as the -S argument to isql? Is that servername in the interfaces file ($SYBASE/interfaces?)
