    Unanswered: clone an instance within the same asm disk group/asm instance

    tried to clone an instance from within the same asm diskgroup :

    +ASM is hosting 350GB of data that serves 4 different oracle instance
    ORCLD development noarchivelog SERVER NODE1 ASM usage 50GB
    ORCLQ quality assurance noarchivelog SERVER NODE2 ASM usage 50GB future 150GB
    RAC1 production archivelog SERVER NODE1 ASM usage 150GB
    RAC2 production archivelog SERVER NODE2 ASM usage
    RMAN RMAN instance noarchivelog SERVER NODE2 cooked files
    when trying using to duplicate/clone the ORCLD to ORCLQ via RMAN I'm facing the issue that I'm not getting the database successfully mounted (corrected the init.ORA but the controlfiles from the ASM seem the problem :
    oracle@NODE2:~/scripts> $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target / catalog rman/<pwd>@rman auxiliary sys/<pwd>

    Recovery Manager: Release - Production

    Copyright (c) 1995, 2004, Oracle. All rights reserved.

    connected to target database (not started)
    connected to recovery catalog database
    connected to auxiliary database (not started)

    RMAN> @restoreORCLQ.sql
    RMAN> startup nomount;

    sh: line 1: /usr/bin/pstack: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
    RMAN-00571: ================================================== =========
    RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
    RMAN-00571: ================================================== =========
    RMAN-03002: failure of startup command at 12/23/2005 12:07:47
    RMAN-04014: startup failed: ORA-00444: background process "LMD0" failed while starting
    ORA-07446: sdnfy: bad value '' for parameter .

    what are the correct steps to achieve this? couldn't anything for clone regarding ASM... I don't want to go via standby as it should not be a standby

    kind regards
