    Unanswered: Gathering system information

    Hello,

I'm looking for a pl/sql procedure, to gather information about the os and the machine (like: uname, os level). Those information should be gathered using pl/sql or sql only because, we have a many different systems (different os). At the moment we use a couple of shell scripts; those are specific for every os to gather this informations. To simplify the gather process we want to use only one script (pl/sql or sql) for all systems.
Can someone give me a hint?

You can allways code a procedure to execute external commands.

Write the external procedure in PERL
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
